An updated version of Lego Minifigure: A Visual History launched earlier this month, offering a comprehensive look at everything that’s happened in the Lego universe since the last edition dropped in 2020. Featuring over 2,500 minifigures (up from 2,000 in the previous edition), the visual history is packed with images and annotations that make it easy to sift through the history of Lego’s most iconic releases.
Lego Minifigure: A Visual History (2025)
$40
This hardcover book features over 300 pages of minifigure history. It covers more than 2,500 minifigures, including new entries from video game sets like Lego Minecraft and Animal Crossing. It also dives into classics like Lego City, Ninjago, Star Wars, and Harry Potter. As a bonus, it comes with an exclusive Lego astronaut minifigure.
Keep in mind that this is a visual history of Lego minifigures--not Lego sets. So while you’ll see thousands of tiny smiling faces, you won’t see any completed sets. But since there’s so much ground to cover with just the minifigures--and many entries come with additional comments and historical facts--this book is bound to please any Lego enthusiast. It’s also cool to see how designs have changed over the years, growing more elaborate and intricate each decade.
With this new 2025 edition, there’s really no reason to pick up the visual history from 2020, as the outdated version costs about the same as this new edition. It’s also nearly 50 pages shorter, making this year’s release the obvious choice for shoppers. Of course, it’s possible the old one will be discounted--so consider keeping your eye on it if you’re hoping to snag it under $40.
